Director's Message

Because of your support, the Amelia Island Chamber Music Festival has become an integral part of the cultural fabric of the
Southeast
.

To Our Friends and Supporters

On behalf of our board of directors, I want to extend a warm welcome to the 12th season of the Amelia Island Chamber Music Festival. Your Festival is today recognized as one of the nation’s
foremost classical music festivals. Our reputation has been built upon the support of our donors…the dazzling array of artists who perform here each year…our many dedicated volunteers…and the
thousands of music lovers, like you, who have attended our performances over the past 12 years.

We will launch the 2013 season with our first-ever
WinterFest, a special mini-Festival in February featuring
internationally acclaimed violinist Hilary Hahn, a
hoedown with The Kruger Brothers and a very special
performance of George Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue
performed by the dueling pianos of Julie Coucheron and
Elizabeth Pridgen.

For our Spring season, which will run from May 11
through June 2, we will present a galaxy of international
stars and outstanding emerging talent, including: violinist
Robert McDuffie, cellist Zuill Bailey, pianists and maestros
Robert Spano and Donald Runnicles, the Linden String
Quartet and clarinetist Jose Franch Ballester. Our popular
Beer & G Strings events will return with a concert featuring
pianist Wendy Chen, cellist Andres Diaz and charismatic
violinist Chee-Yun. You also will enjoy a cabaret featuring renowned vocalist Sylvia McNair, as well as our first-ever lunchtime concert with Julie and David Coucheron at the charming Café Karibo in downtown Fernandina Beach. In addition, we will offer a series of free community concerts and a performance of the Beth Newdome Resident Festival Artists as part of our educational community outreach.

As we have said throughout our history, this truly is your Festival. Because of your support, the Amelia Island Chamber Music Festival has become an integral part of the cultural fabric of the
Southeast. We look forward to seeing you in February at WinterFest and again in May for our exciting Spring season.
