Education of developing musicians is an important component of the Amelia Island Chamber Music Festival.
Burns Fellowship Artists Program
Burns Fellowship Artists (BFA) are selected each year by Christopher Rex, the Festival’s artistic director, in conjunction with the nation’s top conservatories, including Curtis, UCLA, Julliard, Cleveland and Indiana. As a result of the rigorous selection process, a string quartet and one pianist are instructed by two professionals from the roster of guest artists to guide the residency activities of the BFA students.
Chamber Music Workshop
Through the Chamber Music Workshop, 10 to 15 outstanding high school musicians from this region audition for the opportunity to receive coaching from the Burns Fellowship Artists during a week-long workshop culminating in a public performance. The three components of the workship are student rehearsing, coaching and observing. Students observe the rehearsals and performances of the professional guest artists. During the workshop week, other guest artists have lunch with the students, engaging with them on a personal level as well as providing additional coaching.
