About AICMF

Nearly 3,300 people attended the performances of the 2011 Festival. Over 70 artists from South America to Tokyo, including a combination of established world-class musicians and emerging artists, performed in 14 different venues throughout Amelia Island.

The nationally acclaimed Amelia Island Chamber Music Festival is a not-for-profit, tax-exempt arts organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Founded in 2001 and now entering its eleventh season, we promote public appreciation and education about chamber music through our annual festival, which spans several weeks in May and June. The Festival features internationally acclaimed talent from around the globe to enrich the life of Amelia Island, Jacksonville and surrounding region. Many of our guest artists live with families during their stay on the Island. Performances are held at a variety of intimate venues, including churches, a 19th century courthouse and a Civil War fort, on Amelia Island and its historic seacoast village of Fernandina Beach. Amelia Island is Florida’s northernmost Atlantic barrier island, located a short drive from Jacksonville and its international airport.

The Festival strives to meet a wide range of musical tastes: traditional chamber music string quartets; larger chamber music ensembles, some including voice, guitar and wind instruments; and non-traditional music that explores American folk traditions. Providing access to great music and public education are important parts of the Festival’s mission. Each year we offer a number of free concerts to engage a wider segment of the community, including residents of assisted living facilities. We also feature performances by The Beth Newdome Fellowship Artists, consisting of music students from the nation’s most prestigious conservatories and who are coached by some of the world’s finest classical musicians. In addition, many artists open their concerts by talking with the audience about the works being performed.
